Johnson State College instructor wins national videography award

Jacqueline Gregory Langley of Elmore, videography instructor for the new Communications & Community Media major at Johnson State College, has won the 2012 Communicator Awards “Silver Award of Distinction” for her video “Heartbeet Lifesharing Community.”

The video, produced by Langley’s video company, Backroads and Blacktops, won in the online video marketing category. Some 6,000 entrants from all over the world competed in this international competition.

Vermont Public Service Department Commissioner Elizabeth H. Miller announces two key departmental appointments

Geoffrey A. Commons, Esq. of Northfield, Vermont, has been appointed to the role of Public Advocate. Commons received his J.D. magna cum laude from Vermont Law School in South Royalton, where he also served as Managing Editor of the Vermont Law Review. A twenty-two year veteran of the Department, Commons has been recognized by the Dean administration for his service to Vermont citizens, as well as by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for his work as an environmental educator.

Vermont Law School selects first director of Center for Agriculture and Food Systems

Vermont Law School has announced that Laurie Ristino, a senior attorney and administrator at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, has been selected as the first director of VLS’s Center for Agriculture and Food Systems.

Ristino, who will also serve as an associate professor of law, was selected after a national search.

St Michael’s Carlos Vega named Assistant Director of Admission for Multicultural Enrollment

South Burlington resident, Carlos Vega, former sports marketing intern at Saint Michael’s College, has been named Assistant Director of Admission for Multicultural Enrollment at Saint Michael's, starting this month. He has served previously as a sports marketing intern at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill (2010-2011), and at the University of Miami (2009-2010).

Vermont Health Care Association honors Woodridge Rehabilitation employees

The Vermont Health Care Association (VHCA) at their 2012 awards banquet honored two Woodridge Rehabilitation and Nursing employees Lucie Gilbert, Activity Assistant and Bill Thayer, Food Service Manager. Lucie, a Graniteville resident, was named Activity Assistant of the Year and Bill Thayer, a Milton resident, was named Food Service Manager of the Year.

Katie Mason joins Cx Associates as engineering technician

Katie Mason, has joined the Cx Associates team as Engineering Technician. Mason comes to Cx Associates from ReArch Company, where she worked as a Project Administrator. Previously she completed her B.S. in Environmental Engineering from University of Vermont.

Mason will act as an assistant project manager for projects requiring further support in addition to her role as Engineering Technician.
