St Michael’s Carlos Vega named Assistant Director of Admission for Multicultural Enrollment

South Burlington resident, Carlos Vega, former sports marketing intern at Saint Michael’s College, has been named Assistant Director of Admission for Multicultural Enrollment at Saint Michael's, starting this month. He has served previously as a sports marketing intern at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill (2010-2011), and at the University of Miami (2009-2010).

“After a year interning for athletics, I fell in love with Saint Michael's College,” Vega said. “I’m so pleased to be here in this community with such great people to work with. It’s a wonderful fit because of the sense of family,” he said. “The Edmundite priests have been so welcoming too; they had me over for Thanksgiving last year.”

This past summer, Mr. Vega worked for the Vermont Lake Monsters, the minor league baseball team in Burlington, as video board producer/camera operator, where he designed videos for the inaugural video board for the 2012 season, among many other activities.

Mr. Vega earned dual bachelor’s degrees in 2009, from the University of North Carolina, Pembroke, one degree in computer science and another in Spanish. He earned a master’s of education degree in sports administration from the University of Miami in 2010. He was named to the Collegiate Academic Honor Roll, and the Spanish National Honors Society, and was president of Skills USA/VICA.

Mr. Vega was head men’s basketball student assistant/manager at UNC, Pembroke, from 2005-2009, during his undergraduate years.

As NCAA marketing/administration intern at Saint Michael’s last year, Mr. Vega worked on community service outreach for athletic teams, was announcer/score-keeper for events, staged a “MidKnight Madness” event for men’s and women’s basketball, started a spirit group/fan group “Knight Watch,” and more.
