Erika Downing named store manager at TD Bank in Stowe

TD Bank, America’s Most Convenient Bank®, has promoted Erika D. Downing to Store Manager of the store located 39 Main St. in Stowe, Vt. She is responsible for new business development, consumer and business lending, managing personnel and overseeing the day-to-day operations at the store serving customers throughout the region.

Downing has eight years of combined experience in customer service, banking, sales and marketing. She joined TD Bank in 2009 as a Teller and most recently served as a Customer Service Representative.

Vermont Standards Board for Professional Educators (VSBPE) appoints Steven John as Chair

The Vermont Standards Board for Professional Educators (VSBPE) appointed Steven John to serve as Board Chair for the 2012-2013 year. John is currently the Superintendent of Windham Central Supervisory Union (WCSU) in Townshend.

“These are exciting times for education in our state,” said Superintendent Steven John. “Declining student enrollment, our slow growth economy, possible re-authorization of NCLB/ESEA, and the implementation of the Common Core Standards all contribute to anxiety and opportunity for our profession,” he said.

Regional Cancer Support Group hires Ewald as Executive Director

The Board of Directors of/Forest Moon: Celebrating Cancer Survivorship/ announced that Richard Ewald of Westminster West, VT has been hired as the organization's new Executive Director.

Ewald most recently was Director of Planning & Development at the Connecticut River Watershed Council, an environmental non-profit based in Greenfield, MA. Previously he was Community Development Director for the Town of Rockingham, VT.Ewald staffs Forest Moon's new office at 38 Park Place in Brattleboro with newly-hired Executive Assistant Carolyn Conrad.

John Ewing to be recognized with 2012 Art Gibb Award

The Vermont Natural Resources Council this week will be recognizing John Ewing of Burlington with the Arthur Gibb Award for Individual Leadership.

“For more than ten years, John Ewing has helped us all understand the vast social and environmental costs of scattered, low density development and the need to develop better models for Vermont,” said Brian Shupe, VNRC’s executive director. “He also has an unusual talent for working with a wide variety of people and developing consensus.”

Eric Parsons has joined the staff at Southern Vermont College as Registrar and Director of Institutional Research.
