While most of her fellow St. Johnsbury Academy students spend their February vacation relaxing, senior Molly Cantore of St. Johnsbury plans to be working as a volunteer rebuilding Lafayette, Louisiana homes destroyed five years ago by Hurricane Katrina.

The Vermont E9-1-1 Board, which oversees the state’s emergency communications system, has announced the selection of David Tucker to serve as Executive Director starting on January 7th. Tucker is currently the Commissioner of the Department of Information and Innovation. He began at DII as Deputy Commissioner in 2005.



Vermont Law School Professor Cheryl Hanna has been elected as chairperson of the board of trustees of the Richard A. and Barbara W. Snelling Center for Government.

Burlington, VT -- CCTV Center for Media & Democracy announces that Karen Wingate, of Colchester, has been elected president of its board of directors. Wingate, a Contract Specialist for Tetra Tech ARD, in Burlington, joined the board two years ago and recently served as treasurer.

Vermont Chamber of Commerce President Betsy Bishop

has been appointed by Governor Douglas to the Vermont Economic

Development Authority (VEDA) board of directors.

Peter G. Anderson, President of Stowe Charities, Inc,. has announced

that a new Events Coordinator has been named for the 13th Annual Stowe

Wine and Food Classic.

Sharon Radtke has been chosen as the coordinator for the 2011 Stowe

Wine and Food Classic which will be held at the Trapp Family Lodge June

24, 25 & 26, 2011.

Rick Fleming of Fleming Oil in Brattleboro Vermont was named the new

President of the Vermont Fuel Dealers Association. The VFDA Executive

Board unanimously elected Fleming to the volunteer leadership post at

their annual winter meeting. Rick succeeds Peter Bourne of Bourne’s

Energy in Morrisville. Bourne will remain on the VFDA Executive Board.

Jon Margolis, a regular panelist on Vermont Public Television’s “Vermont

This Week,” closed his Vermont Newsguy blog last month, but he will continue

to keep an eye on Vermont news.
