Ron Hance named 2012 Business Person of the Year

The Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce held their 114th Annual Meeting on October 24th. Ron Hance, President/CEO, Heritage Family Credit Union was named at the 2012 Business Person of the Year. In his remarks RRCC EVP/CEO Tom Donahue noted Mr. Hance started his career with Heritage Family Credit Union (formerly GE Credit Union) in 1967 serving on the Board of Directors and various committees, in 1978 he became President/CEO when the company had $2M in assets and three employees working out of a small rented office space.

Lamoille Economic Development Corporation elects new slate of officers for 2012

The Lamoille Economic Development Corporation elects a new slate of officers for 2012. The new President is James Black who has been on the faculty at Johnson State College in the Business and Economics Department since 1987 and is presently chair of the deparment as well as a Professor Management. Black also serves as a founding board member of VermontEntrepreneur.org. He received his Ph.D in systems Science, M.S. in Mathematics and B.S. in psychology at Portland State University. He was previously on the faculty at the University of Connecticut.

Jon Haftarczuk is new hire at PP&D

Bill Orleans, owner of PP&D Brochure Distribution of Burlington, is pleased to announce the hiring of Jon Haftarczuk, as a new brochure distributor. He will be specializing in the Greater Burlington Area tourist locations, The Mad River Valley and Franklin County.

Haftarczuk has recently been employed by Hertz Car Rental in South Burlington and The Rack Warehouse of Williston.

GeoDesign's Kelley Named UMASS Outstanding Junior Alumni

Shawn P. Kelley, Ph.D., an associate and shareholder with GeoDesign Inc., was recognized on October 27 as an Outstanding Junior Alumni by the University of Massachusetts-Amherst’s College of Engineering. Recipients of this award are considered worthy ambassadors for the College and have shown extraordinary effort and notable success in their careers. Kelley graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in civil engineering.
