NRG Systems names Essex Junction resident as global sales manager
NRG Systems, Inc., manufacturer of wind measurement equipment, announces the promotion of Essex Junction resident Paul Dawson to the position of global sales manager. Dawson joined NRG Systems in the summer of 2008 as a sales account manager for North American markets. In that role, he managed existing accounts and business development for the company’s wind resource assessment and remote sensor customers.
Vermont Tech Student Wins Prestigious Engineering Award
Stephen Smith, an Architectural Engineering Technology student from Springfield, VT has been awarded the New York State Engineering Technology Association’s 2010 Scholarship Award.
The New York State Engineering Technology Association is an organization of faculty representing 41 colleges, including Vermont Tech. Each year scholarship nominations are solicited from faculty members of the organization based on a student’s service, scholarship, and leadership. This year, eight scholarships were awarded at the spring conference in Buffalo, NY.
Stafford Technical Center inducts seven students to NTHS
Stafford Technical Center inducted seven students into the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) on May 6, 2010 during a candlelight ceremony in the Dollhouse Restaurant. The mission of NTHS is to honor outstanding student achievement in career and technical education, promote educational excellence, and help to create strong partnerships with business and industry. These students exemplify the core values of NTHS which are leadership, citizenship, service, honesty, responsibility, skill, and scholarship. Stafford is very proud of these outstanding individuals.
Vermont electrician earns renewable energy industry’s preeminent certification for solar electric installers
A Vermont electrician recently earned the renewable energy industry’s preeminent certification for solar electric installers. Matthew Murphy, 28, is now certified by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP), an organization that implements voluntary credentialing and certification programs for green energy practitioners. All NABCEP professionals must meet an extensive experience prerequisite then pass an intensive exam developed in accordance with the trade’s best practices. There are currently 16 NABCEP installers in Vermont.
Three Central Vermont Medical Center nurses receive Rose Black Nursing Excellence Awards
The ninth annual Rose Black Nursing Excellence Awards at Central Vermont Medical Center were presented this year to three women who provide their patients with superior nursing care. Dr. Percy Black, Rose Black’s son, welcomed everyone and gave thanks to today’s award recipients and all of the nurses at CVMC, on behalf of his mother and the Black family. He emphasized that nurses are nominated for this award by their peers.
