VEDA names new Chief Lending Officer

The Vermont Economic Development Authority (VEDA) has named Peter Samson its Chief Lending Officer (CLO), effective July 1, 2019. He will lead the Authority's Commercial, Agricultural and Loan Resolution lending departments.

Samson joins VEDA from Berkshire Bank, where he held the position of Connecticut Region Executive, responsible for direct commercial lending and business development for small and middle market businesses. He also worked closely with the many regional economic development entities across the state.

Golden named Branch Manager at Union Bank Williston branch

David Silverman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Union Bank is pleased to announce that Maureen M. Golden has been selected for the AVP- Branch Manager position at its new Williston branch located at 31 Market Street, Finney Crossing. Currently under construction, the bank’s twentieth full service branch is scheduled to open at the end of July, 2019. Main Street Alliance welcomes new board members, chair

Main Street Alliance of Vermont welcomes Randy George of Red Hen Baking Co. and Lindsay DesLauriers, President and COO of Bolton Valley Resort, to the State Board. George succeeds Jen Kimmich, co-owner of the Alchemist, as chair of the board.

VHB welcomes Conley, PE, PTOE, Director of Transportation Systems

Jennifer Conley, PE, PTOE, has joined VHB as the Director of Transportation Systems overseeing the firm’s transportation planning and traffic engineering team based in South Burlington. A Professional Traffic Operations Engineer, she helps clients throughout New England improve the mobility and safety for users of motorized and non-motorized transportation, including evaluating and developing intersection and corridor improvements, traffic operational studies and design, bicycle and pedestrian facility design, and preparation of construction phasing and traffic management plans.

Truslow joins VHB as a Transportation Consultant

A former intern in the South Burlington office, VHB is thrilled to welcome Nina Truslow back as a Transportation Consultant in the Structures Team. Nina recently graduated from the University of Vermont with a BS in civil engineering with a minor in community and international development. In addition to her internship with VHB last year, Nina previously interned with the Central Vermont Planning Commission in Montpelier where she was responsible for traffic counts, road erosion inventories, and culvert inventories as well as data collection, research, and mapping.

Maerki joins VHB as a Transportation Designer

VHB is pleased to announce that Ian Maerki has joined the South Burlington, Vermont office as a Transportation Designer in the Transportation Engineering group. A recent graduate of the University of Vermont, Ian earned a BS in civil engineering. Prior to joining VHB Ian was an intern with the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission where he supported a variety of transportation infrastructure projects.

VPR’s Noyes receives Education Writers Association Reporting Fellowship

Vermont Public Radio Reporter Amy Noyes has received a fellowship from the Education Writers Association as part of that organization’s ongoing efforts to support enterprising journalism projects. Noyes will create a series on innovation in the higher education business model at Vermont’s small colleges, many of which are struggling to stay afloat. The EWA Reporting Fellowship provides funding to help cover reporting costs. She is one of nine reporters from across the country to receive this fellowship.

Food Connects welcomes new sales manager

Food Connects is excited to welcome Julicia Myers to their team as their Food Hub Sales Manager. Julicia joins the team from Canajoharie, NY where she worked as the Agricultural Economic Development Program Coordinator for Montgomery County.

As part of her multifaceted role there, she promoted local products, helped farmers diversify their operations, and managed a variety of grants in support of the Montgomery County agricultural community.
