Main Street Alliance welcomes new board members, chair

Main Street Alliance of Vermont welcomes Randy George of Red Hen Baking Co. and Lindsay DesLauriers, President and COO of Bolton Valley Resort, to the State Board. George succeeds Jen Kimmich, co-owner of the Alchemist, as chair of the board.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome Lindsay and Randy to the board,” said Ashley Moore, outgoing MSA-VT State Director. “They both have been key actors in shaping the organization and its successes over the past five years and I am looking forward to seeing what we all can accomplish moving forward.”

Randy George and Eliza Cain founded Red Hen Baking Co. in 1999 and have offered organic, hearth-baked bread and baked goods throughout the state and at their cafe in Middlesex for the last 20 years. They both have been actively involved with Main Street Alliance of Vermont since its founding in 2014, and Randy has been instrumental in developing and advancing policies that support small businesses and working Vermonters. In 2015, he was honored by the White House as a “Champion of Change” for his efforts both in Vermont and nationally to improve the lives of working families and making a positive change in communities.

On joining the board, George stated: “Liza and I have been active members of the Main Street Alliance from the start. This organization is near and dear to my heart and I am excited for the opportunity to take the reins on the Board of Directors as MSA-VT continues to work on a number of critical issues that have the potential to affect every single business owner and employee in the state.”

In 2018, Lindsay DesLauriers, founder and former State Director of Main Street Alliance of Vermont, began working for her family’s business, Bolton Valley Resort, where she is the President and Chief Operating Officer. Over the past year, DesLauriers has participated in advocating on behalf of her business for the passage of a universal family and medical leave insurance law, among other things. Along with her knowledge of and experience with Vermont policy and advocacy work, DesLauriers brings to the board the perspective of an important Vermont industry.

“I’m so happy to join the MSA-VT Board,” said DesLauriers. “I’m excited to continue to be a part of an organization that makes it possible for small and locally-owned businesses to have our own unique voice in this state.”

George and DesLauriers will be joining Jen Kimmich of the Alchemist, Melinda Moulton of Main Street Landing, Sivan Cotel of Stonecutter Spirits, Eric Sorkin of Runamok Maple, Caleb Magoon of Power Play Sports and Waterbury Sports, Matt Birong of 3 Squares Cafe, Julia Rogers of EnRoute Consulting, Ricky Klein of Groennfell Meadery, and Eliza Cain of Red Hen Baking Company to fulfill the mission and vision of Main Street Alliance of Vermont as members of the State Board.
