Vermont Remodeler Appointed to NAHB State and Local Government Affairs Committee and Environmental Issues Committee

Williston Remodeler Mike Gervais has been appointed to the State and Local Government Affairs Committee and the Environmental Issues Committee of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). Gervais is president of Prime Renovation Group and DreamMaker Bath and Kitchen of Northern Vermont.

iTech CEO named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year

iTECH has announced that CEO Kishore Khandavalli is a finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 2009 Award for New England. The Ernst & Young the awards program recognizes entrepreneurs who demonstrate extraordinary success in the areas of innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities. Kishore Khandavalli was selected as a finalist from hundreds of nominations by a panel of independent judges. Award winners will be announced at a special gala event on June 16th at the Marriott Newton Hotel in Boston.

Time Magazine “Hero of the Environment” Wang Canfa to visit Champlain College

New England environmentalists will have a unique view into the challenges and accomplishments of the environmental movement in China in June when Professor Wang Canfa stops in Montreal and Burlington.

The Woodbury Institute of Champlain College and Montreal’s McGill University will be hosting Prof. Wang, one of China’s leading environmentalists, to discuss the “Environmental Realities Facing China.”

Prof. Wang's work earned worldwide attention when he was named one of Time Magazine’s top 50 global “Heroes of the Environment” in 2007.

Seven Days hires Lauren Ober as New Staff Writer

Seven Days, Vermont’s only alternative print and online weekly, has hired a new staff writer — reporter Lauren Ober, formerly of the Burlington Free Press.

Ober received her master’s degree in journalism from Syracuse University in 2003, and worked as a reporter for The Citizen in Auburn, New York, before coming to the Free Press in December 2005. In 2007, she received first-place honors for “Best Daily News Story” from the Vermont Press Association.
