Dorset Theatre Festival's founder honored at annual meeting

Dorset Theatre Festival's founder John Nassivera will be honored at the Vermont Arts Council’s Annual Meeting on Thursday, June 4th at 4 PM the State House in Montpelier. Following a short business meeting, Nassivera will be presented the prestigious Walter Cerf Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Arts. Jane Lendway will receive a Citation of Merit Award for her commitment to Vermont’s Historic Preservation and grant recipients including musician Anais Mitchell, poet Stephen Cramer and visual artist Brian Cohen will showcase their work.

Physician assistant joins CVMC’s Family Practice Group

Tom Curchin, MD, Chairman, CVMC’s Medical Group Management Committee, recently announced that Patricia A. Driscoll, MS, ATC, PA-C joined CVMC’s Family Practice Group located on East View Lane in Berlin, Vermont. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Science at the University of Vermont. She completed her Physician Assistant Studies at St. Francis College in Loretto, Pennsylvania and earned her Master of Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

Mentor Connector elects board members

The Board of Directors of The Mentor Connector announced that the following persons have been elected to board positions; They are Laurie Martin of the Vermont Country Store, Patricia Menduni, currently at the Paramount Theatre, Megan Smith, Representative to the Vermont House of Representitives from Mendon, George Cook, retired from the Department of Corrections and Sandy Cohen, retiring executive director of The Mentor Connector.

Copley recognizes employees for excellence in service

It was a special evening for more than 100 staff as Copley Hospital honored three employees for excellence and recognized years of service during the annual Employee Awards Banquet. Copley President Mel Patashnick kicked off the May 14th gathering by reminding staff that “We, (Copley) and the people we serve have the good fortune to have a team of professionals who are dedicated to their jobs and their communities. Stone achieves advanced QuickBooks certification

Terry Stone has successfully completed a re-certification of the Advanced Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor training & testing program. This accomplishment adds to Stone’s current qualification as a Certified ProAdvisor for versions 1999 through 2009. Stone trains bookkeepers and micro-business owners in the functional business use of QuickBooks and has been a certified QBooks advisor since the inception of the certification program in 1999.

Pulitzer-winning journalist among speakers at UVM reunion

Journalist Eric Lipton will be one of a dozen UVM faculty and alumni headlining the "Voices of Vermont" speaker series at this year's reunion weekend, June 4-7.Lipton, a Pulitzer Prize winning reporter in the Washington bureau of The New York Times and a 1987 graduate of UVM, has covered everything from the World Trade Center attack to Hurricane Katrina. But for the last six months, it has been a different kind of disaster: the Great Recession of 2009.
