New Faculty Announced at Champlain College

The Office of the Provost at Champlain College has announced the following new faculty hires:

· In the Core Division, Michael Kelly, assistant professor, The Writing Center, and Dr. Stephen Wehmeyer, instructor, Concepts.

· In the Division of Business: Fritz Burkhardt, assistant professor, Finance.

· In the Division of Communications and Creative Media: Dev Jana, assistant professor, Game Design, and JoAnn Patel, assistant professor, Game Art and Animation.

Champlain College Honors Long-Time Employees

Champlain College recognized some of its long-time employees at its recent 2010 Recognition Event at the Sheraton Hotel and Conference Center. Champlain President David F. Finney acknowledged the following anniversaries: 40 years - John Lavallee; 35 years – Cliff Gordon and Alan Stracke; 30 years – Geebo Church and Carol Moran-Brown; 25 years – David Mona; and 20 years – Pat Boera, Riki Bowen, Sue Chamberlain, Colleen Long and Sue Rowley.

Champlain College Librarian Honored

Andrew Burkhardt of Burlington has received the Lyrasis 2010 NextGen Librarian Award. He is Champlain College’s Emerging Technologies Librarian at the Miller Information Commons. This national award honors three librarians new to the library profession who demonstrate an innovative and fresh approach to the profession and are leaders in our rapidly changing world. In selecting Burkhardt, the award committee commended his ability to stay current to new technologies while valuing the importance of in-person connections.

Vermont Agriculture Secretary Allbee Elected President of the Northeast Association of the State Departments of Agriculture

At its annual meeting in Maine on June 8th, Secretary Roger Allbee of Vermont was unanimously elected President of the Northeast Association of the State Departments of Agriculture. This Association of Commissioners and Secretaries of Agriculture from the ten Northeastern States (Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and the six New England States) work on issues both regionally and nationally of common interest to the States.
