Scott Smith recently joined The Vermont Teddy Bear Company as their CFO. Prior to his role at the Vermont Teddy Bear Company, Mr. Smith served as CFO for Heritage Aviation, Inc., a diversified aviation services company based at Burlington International Airport. Before joining Heritage Aviation, Mr. Smith was CFO of Hubbardton Forge LLC, a high-end residential and commercial lighting manufacturer based in the U.S.A. Vermont Family Network names Development & Communications Director

Vermont Family Network (VFN) recently promoted Jeff Morton to the position of Director of Development & Communications. Morton joined VFN in 2010 as Communications Director. Over the past year, he has overseen the organization’s marketing efforts, including a rebranding initiative that included implementation of a new website. Morton has also been responsible for the non-profit organization’s social media platforms, newsletters, annual conference, and annual fundraising campaign.

Champlain Valley Area Health Education Center (AHEC) in St. Albans names executive director

Helen Riehle has been named as the executive director of the Champlain Valley Area Health Education Center (AHEC) in St. Albans. Prior to joining Champlain Valley AHEC, Riehle taught middle school, was the executive director of the Vermont Program for Quality in Health Care and served in the Vermont State Legislature. As a legislator, Riehle chaired health and welfare, administrative rules and health access committees in the House and Senate.

Emmys awarded to Producers of Vermont Public Television’s ‘Headline Vermont’

Vermont Public Television (VPT), Vermont’s statewide public television network, has added another golden statuette to its awards case. The producers of “Headline Vermont” won Emmys at the 34th annual Boston/New England awards held May 14 in Boston. The film chronicled Vermonters’ passion for newspapers from the frontier era into the 20th century.

Girl Scouts honor Champions for Girls

Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains honored three women who have made a difference and serve as role models for girls at a Breakfast with Champions Tuesday, May 3 at the Hampton Inn in Colchester.

CEO and President of NRG Systems Jan Blittersdorf, Shirley Collado PhD of Middlebury College, and senior political reporter at Channel 3 News in Vermont Kristin Carlson were honored.

Introductions of the honorees and presentations were made by Girl Scouts Katie Hango of South Burlington, Amanda Greene of Swanton, and Diana Alford of Essex Junction.
