CVMC volunteers honored

Central Vermont Medical Center volunteers were recognized for their service at a luncheon prepared by the CVMC Nutrition and Food Services Department on April 12, 2013.

During calendar year 2012, 168 volunteers contributed 22,568 hours to Central Vermont Medical Center. CVMC volunteers serve in various hospital departments, the cancer center, Woodridge Rehabilitation & Nursing, and in the CVMC Auxiliary Gift Shop and The Bene-Fit Shop in Barre.

NEFCU announces winners of 2013 nursing scholarships

New England Federal Credit Union (NEFCU) recently named the three winners of the 2013 NEFCU Nursing Scholarships. Each year, NEFCU’s Nursing Scholarship Program provides three scholarships of $3000 each to qualified applicants.

Randy Kelley of South Burlington is currently pursuing his Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) at Walden University. He works at the University of Vermont Nursing Faculty and at Fletcher Allen Health Care’s Intensive Care Units.

Lauren-Glenn Davitian Receives NTEN Lifetime Achievement Award

CCTV Center for Media & Democracy, a community media and free speech organization that operates Channel 17/Town Meeting Television, CCTV Productions and Common Good Vermont announces that Executive Director, Lauren-Glenn Davitian received the Nonprofit Technology Network's (NTEN) Lifetime Achievement Award at their April 2013 NTC Conference in Minneapolis.

Norwich University professor named to academic fellowship in terrorism studies

The Foundation for the Defense of Democracies (FDD), a non-partisan policy institute headquartered in Washington, D.C., announced that Travis Morris, a Norwich University assistant professor of justice studies and sociology, has been named an Academic Fellow for 2013-14.

Morris will travel to Israel in June for an intensive course in terrorism studies. In particular, he will study how democracies can defeat the worldwide terrorist threat.

Chris Martin joins People’s United Bank as senior vice president, director of government banking
