Union Bank appoints new members to St. Johnsbury advisory board

David Silverman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Union Bank is pleased to announce the appointment of two new members to the Bank’s St. Johnsbury Advisory Board. Mary Parent, Senior Associate, Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC and Michael Barrett of the Barrett Insurance Agency joined the Advisory Board in March of this year.

Union Bank has three Advisory Boards, each covering a portion of the Bank’s service area. The Advisory Boards act as ambassadors for the Bank, have lending authority and represent the Bank at community functions. The Boards make recommendations to management for new products, growth opportunities and areas needing improvement.

Ms. Parent specializes in corporate and commercial law in the areas of business formation and operation, private equity transactions, financing, mergers and acquisitions, estate planning and commercial real estate. She is a graduate of Boston College Law School, was admitted to the State Bar of Massachusetts, State Bar of Vermont, and State Bar of New Hampshire and is a member of the Vermont and New Hampshire Bar Associations. Parent is the president of the St. Johnsbury Chamber of Commerce, the treasurer of the Caledonia County Bar Association and is a member of the Northeast Kingdom Young Professionals Group. She previously served on the board of directors of Catamount Film & Arts, and as coordinator of the St. Johnsbury Chapter of the Women Business Owners’ Network.

Mr. Barrett, an agent with the Barrett Insurance Agency is licensed in Vermont and New Hampshire. He has extensive experience in broadcasting having worked for SnoCountry Worldwide, Clear Channel Communications and Vermont Broadcast Associates. Barrett is active with Relay For Life of Caledonia County and is a past co-chair and emcee for the event. He is the 2006 Presidents Club award winner for Excellence in Broadcast with Clear Channel Communications and 2008 Customer Service Representative of the Year with Cooperative Insurance Companies.
