Chris Martin joins People’s United Bank as senior vice president, director of government banking

People’s United Bank announced today that Chris Martin has joined People’s United as Senior Vice President, Government Banking. He brings over 30 years of experience in the banking and securities industries and is responsible for developing the Government Banking business, including lending, deposit and cash management services with public sector clients across the bank’s New York and New England footprint.

Martin began his banking career with Fleet/BankBoston in 1990 as a Government Finance relationship manager. He moved to Webster Bank in 1997, as Senior Vice President and Manager, building out the Government Finance Group and also developed the bank’s financial advisory service in Connecticut serving the needs of 52 municipalities, including some of the state’s largest cities: Stamford, Waterbury and Hartford. Martin has extensive ties to governmental entities of all sizes across Connecticut and the Northeast.

Martin graduated from University of Connecticut with both a Bachelors in Finance and a Masters in Education. In addition, he has been involved in the Greater Waterbury Community in a variety of capacities for more than 30 years. For the past seven years, he has been on the Board of Directors of Wellmore Behavioral Health, a $20 million not-for-profit which serves the mental health needs of greater Waterbury. He is also currently serving as the President of the Laura Andrews Free Library Association of Thomaston.
