Kelly Deforge elected president of HomeShare Vermont

HomeShare Vermont elected Kelly Deforge to head the non-profit’s fifteen member board of directors at their recent annual meeting.

Kelly has been on the board since 2007 and served as Vice President for the past two years. Kelly is a Senior Mortgage Loan Originator with Union Bank and has been in the mortgage industry for over twenty years. She also volunteers with the Howard Center as the Co-Chair of the CYFS Advisory Committee and she sits on the loan committee at Champlain Housing Trust.

Norwich receives gift from alumnus, owner and brewer at 14th Star Brewery

A veteran of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars turned Vermont brewer has presented a check for more than $5,600 to Norwich University towards its $100 M “Forging the Future” comprehensive campaign.

Steve Gagner, founder of 14th Star Brewing Company in St. Albans, presented the check to Norwich University President Richard W. Schneider on Monday, Nov. 10.

The funds represent profits from September homecoming sales of Citizen Soldier Amber Ale, a special brew produced by Gagner in honor of Norwich University’s five-year 2014-2019 Bicentennial countdown.

Phil Tucker joins People Making Good PR as account director in Vermont office

People Making Good P has hired Phil Tucker as Account Director, a senior position at the public relations agency with offices in Burlington Vt. and Boston Ma. Tucker brings meaningful, agency-side experience to PMG.

Previously, Tucker served as Account Director at Jager Di Paola Kemp Design, working with clients including Burton Snowboards, Giant Bicycle, and Xbox 360. Before moving to Vermont, Phil was a manager at the New York firm RDA International, where he oversaw the Sony account.

Tucker is a graduate of New York University, with a degree in journalism.

Henry Marckres, the Vermont Agency of Agriculture’s Consumer Protection Chief and resident maple syrup expert was awarded the prestigious Lynn Reynolds Award for Leadership in the Maple Industry at the annual meeting of the North American Maple Syrup Council and the International Maple Syrup Institute (IMSI) held October 21-23 in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. Established in 1999 in honor of long-time IMSI supporter and director, Lynn Reynolds, the prestigious award is bestowed annually on a worthy IMSI member in recognition of outstanding leadership in the International Maple Syrup Industry.
