Berkshire Bank and its foundation support local food banks this holiday season through estatements campaign

Berkshire Bank and its Foundation have announced their pledge to donate up to $25,000 to local food banks through December 31, 2014—donating $1 for every Berkshire account that converts to eStatements. The campaign prompts the Bank’s customers to move their accounts from paper statements to electronic statements—called eStatements—in an effort to reduce their carbon footprint through reducing paper usage.

Champlain Community Service Awarded $100,000 by The Gibney Family Foundation

Champlain Community Services (CCS), Inc. announces an award of $100,000 over three years from The Gibney Family Foundation of South Burlington. The grant represents an investment that enables CCS to fully launch its School2Work career development initiative for high school students with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Student, alumni awards spotlight growing success of women in engineering at UVM

"The ability to attract young women is a significant challenge faced by the engineering community,” the National Academy of Engineering wrote in an influential 1999 editorial in its publication, The Bridge.

By granting three of the most competitive engineering awards in the state to women in 2014, UVM and the state of Vermont are doing their part to demonstrate that women can find success and have rewarding careers in the field.

The new location, 45 Union St. in downtown Rutland, allows BROC-Community Action in Southwestern Vermont to have all their programs and services under one roof.
