Burlington City Arts is pleased to welcome two new staff members to the communication team. Andrew Desforges joined BCA in early March as the Art Director, charged with designing all creative materials related to BCA’s exhibitions, programs and events and articulating BCA's brand through digital and print materials.

National Life’s Board of Directors has elected Chief Executive Officer Mehran Assadi chairman of the board, effective immediately. Assadi has served as president and CEO of the company since 2009. He will retain those titles as he also assumes the chairmanship. He succeeds Thomas H MacLeay, a former president and CEO who has served as chairman since 2002.

The University of Vermont Health Network has named Jerald Novak as the network’s chief people officer, effective, May 1. He most recently led Human Resources for Global Assets at Biogen in Cambridge, MA. The position replaces the former chief human resources officer function.

Lyndon State College Interim President Nolan Atkins will award the Presidential Medal of Distinction to Representative Richard Lawrence in honor of his lifelong service to his community and the State of Vermont.

Dr Lewis R First, professor and chair of the Department of Pediatrics at the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont, has been named by the UVM Alumni Association as the 2017 recipient of its George V Kidder Outstanding Faculty Award.

Amy Cisz, RN, received Central Vermont Medical Center (CVMC)’s second DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses in a surprise ceremony recently. Cisz earned the honor for her role helping a severely mentally ill patient who arrived in the emergency department with multiple physical, hygiene and emotional care needs.

The women attorneys of Langrock Sperry & Wool, LLP were predominant among the female Vermont attorneys recognized by The Best Lawyers in America® in its 2017 “Women of Influence” listings. Of the 33 separate types of law listed, Langrock women were named in 14 categories, or more than 42% of the total.

WCAX has received an Edward R Murrow regional journalism award from the Radio Television Digital News Association. The annual awards recognize the spirit of excellence that Edward R Murrow made standard for the broadcast news profession. New England Federal Credit Union (NEFCU) recently named the three winners of the 2017 NEFCU Nursing Scholarships. Each year, NEFCU’s Nursing Scholarship Program provides three scholarships of $3000 each to qualified applicants. Darien Boerger of Waterbury is a senior at Stowe High School and will be attending the University of Pittsburgh this Fall.
