The Vermont Jump$tart Coalition has named Jen Desorcie as the 2020 Jump$tart Teacher of the Year. The award is given annually to an individual or organization in recognition of their effort to advance financial literacy of Vermont youth. The award includes $1,000 and an honorary plaque.

The Vermont State School Nurses’ Association (VSSNA) has awarded Jeanne Nummelin, RN care coordinator at St. Johnsbury Pediatrics the 2020 J. Ward Stackpole, MD Recognition Award. Nummelin has been a nurse for 35 years. For the last 20 years, she has been part of the St. Johnsbury Pediatrics team. There she has been a floor nurse, triage nurse, and most recently, a clinical care coordinator.
ECFiber’s governing board voted unanimously to add four towns to its coverage area: Windsor along its southern edge, and Fairlee, West Fairlee, and Corinth along its northern edge. The action came at the annual meeting of the East Central Vermont Telecommunications District, the municipality that delivers world-class broadband as ECFiber.
Elisabeth Kulas will retire from her position as Executive Director of the Housing Trust of Rutland County in December 2020 after 27 years leading the organization. Kulas’s retirement was announced by the Board of Directors on Friday. The search for a replacement will begin immediately, and an overlap with the new director is planned prior to Ms. Kulas’ departure.
