The Town of Richmond announced the hiring of Alan Buck to succeed retiring Richmond Police Chief William “Joe” Miller. Buck retired from the Vermont State Police as a Captain in 2009 and has remained active in the State Police auxiliary. Chief Buck will begin work in Richmond on June 27 and Miller will stay on for a period to ensure a smooth transition.
Preston Leete Smith, who as a 26-year-old envisioned a Vermont ski resort that included first of its kind snowmaking, surface grooming and learn to ski programs, will be inducted into the Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum (VSSM) Hall of Fame this fall in recognition of his leadership to make those visions realities.

Vermont Law School President, Dean and Professor Jeff Shields today announced his retirement effective August 1, 2012, after four decades as a practicing attorney and legal educator.
At its annual change-over dinner meeting on June 23, 2011, the Brattleboro Rotary Club inducted Liz Harrison as its 62nd club president for the 2011-2012 year. Harrison is a board-certified clinical nutritionist in private practice in Townshend and is the volunteer coordinator for Grace Cottage Hospital.
