The Town of Richmond announced the hiring of Alan Buck to succeed retiring Richmond Police Chief William “Joe” Miller. Buck retired from the Vermont State Police as a Captain in 2009 and has remained active in the State Police auxiliary. Chief Buck will begin work in Richmond on June 27 and Miller will stay on for a period to ensure a smooth transition.
“We are pleased to welcome Alan Buck to Richmond,” said Selectboard Chair Jon Kart. “Joe Miller is a tough act to follow, but we are confident that our search committee process has produced a worthy successor.”
Buck has worked in law enforcement since the age of 19 and for much of his time with the State Police he worked in and around Chittenden County. He has extensive experience in personnel management and at one time oversaw the operation of three State Police barracks and a dispatch center.
