William Wheeler 2011 receives Excellence in Teaching Award from Champlain College

Bill Wheeler of Charlotte, Vermont was recently awarded the prestigious Francine Page Excellence in Teaching Award from Champlain College. The award has never before gone to an adjunct professor.

Wheeler was nominated and chosen for the award due to his embodiment of the ideal “practitioner faculty” – an amalgam of professional expertise, teaching talent, and collegial spirit. As such, Wheeler exemplifies the legions of reliable and committed adjunct instructors that have helped make Champlain College graduates so successful. Wheeler has long been an advocate of Champlain College’s mission of experiential learning and he practices the collegiality that brings out the very best in our Champlain community. He regularly attends Division of Business meetings; he participates in May Collaborative events, and has worked on curriculum revisions in the Marketing program.

Wheeler’s business career has spanned nearly five decades. He has worked nationally and internationally in large ad agencies in Boston, New York and Montreal, as well as in his own Burlington-based agency, Wheeler & Associates. Wheeler began teaching Advertising and Marketing classes at Champlain as an adjunct instructor in 2001.
