NEK Council on Aging honors Senior Companions as 2023 Humanitarian Heroes

The Northeast Kingdom Council on Aging has bestowed its 2023 Humanitarian Hero Award on the Senior Companions, a group of six volunteers who provide assistance and friendship to elders who have difficulty with daily living tasks.

Members of the group include Susan Brill, Christine Elder and Joan Wollrath of St. Johnsbury, Natalie Fuller of North Concord, Waid Hudson of Island Pond and Jeannine Richards of Derby Line.

National Life Group launches Office of Chief Marketing Officer

National Life Group has announced the establishment of the Office of the Chief Marketing Officer, which will be led by Executive Vice President Matt Frazee, who will be responsible for the company's distribution and marketing functions.

Frazee has been at National Life since 2011 and most recently served as senior vice president for independent distribution. He was appointed to the Executive Leadership Team in 2019.

HomeShare Vermont welcomes two new case managers

Wendy Rowe, former housing advocate at the Champlain Valley Office of Economic Development, and Sarah Hudak, a former eighth grade language arts teacher in Denver for the past six years, have joined HomeShare Vermont as case managers.

Rowe will work in Grand Isle, Franklin, Chittenden and Addison counties, and Hudak will serve the central Vermont counties of Lamoille, Washington and Orange. Hudak's position was made possible thanks to increased funding from the state of Vermont.

Insurance association honors three members, awards scholarship to fourth

The Vermont Association of Insurance Professionals in October recognized three of its members for their service to the insurance industry and awarded a fourth member a coveted scholarship.

The service honorees are Paula Clark, Insurance Professional of the Year; Tasha Austin-Shortt, Professional Underwriter of the Year; and Crista Peck, Client Services Professional of the Year. All three are employees of the Vermont Mutual Insurance Group.
