New dean guides Academics at Vermont Law School

Vermont Law School announces the appointment of Professor Gil Kujovich as Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, effective July 1, 2009. Professor Kujovich will replace Vice Dean Stephanie Willbanks, who will return to full-time teaching and scholarship at VLS. The vice dean focuses on developing faculty potential in scholarship and teaching, while catalyzing the continuing evolution of legal education for students.

UVM fills key positions

The University of Vermont has filled a number of key academic and administrative positions, including dean and interim dean vacancies.

Patricia Prelock, professor of communication sciences and chair of the Department of Communication Sciences, has been appointed dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, succeeding Betty Rambur. Prelock is a training director for Vermont's Interdisciplinary Leadership Education for Health Professionals Program and project director for Vermont's State Improvement Grant Speech-Language Pathologist Initiative.

Agency of Agriculture State Veterinarian presented with Walker Award

Dr. Michael Wood, assistant state veterinarian with the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets is the 2009 recipient of the Vermont Veterinary Medical Association’s Dave Walker Award. This award was presented to Dr. Wood on June 18th by the Association during their recent summer meeting in Burlington. David Walker was a Vermont veterinarian who exemplified the highest standards of veterinary medicine in a rural setting most every day of his life. He was a strong advocate for animal health, agriculture, as well as the well-being of veterinarians themselves.

Three from Stantec elected to state engineering association board

Three engineers from Stantec’s South Burlington, Vermont, office have been elected to the Board of Directors for the Vermont Society of Professional Engineers (VSPE): Greg Goyette as president, Amanda Hanaway-Corrente as state director, and Kaytee Manchester as secretary.

Goyette is a civil engineer in Stantec’s Transportation division and Vermont’s 2008 Young Engineer of the Year. As president of the VSPE, he will represent the state in the national organization’s annual meeting in St. Louis later this month.

National MS Society honors Philip R. Daniels

Philip R. Daniels of TD Banknorth was honored by the National MS Society at the Annual Dinner of Champions. Phil received the Silver Hope Award, the highest honor given by the National MS Society. Awarded to individuals who are leaders in both business and philanthropic efforts within their communities, the Silver Hope Award honors those who strive to improve the quality of life today to create a better tomorrow. The Dinner of Champions raised over $90,000 to fund research and local programs and services offered by the Vermont Office.
