New director/owner opens childcare center in Essex

The Learning Place Childcare Center opened recently at 86 Center Rd in Essex with a new owner and director, Christina Tiemann. Tiemann holds a degree in Early Childhood Development and Professional Studies. She has worked in childcare in the Burlington area for ten years prior to opening her own center. Christina believes in helping children develop in a safe, fun and nurturing environment. Each child will receive the attention they need to encourage development while maintaining individuality for that child.

Southern Vermont College Welcomes New Business Division Chair

Professor Eric Drouart has accepted the position of Chair of Southern Vermont College’s McCormick Division of Business. Drouart, a native of France, was most recently Associate Professor of Business in the Business Administration Division at Rivier College in Nashua, N.H., where he has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in management, marketing, advertising, international business, market research and strategic management since 2000. He was the Chair of the Rivier College Business Administration Department for three years between 2002 and 2005.

Jarrett lawyer presents at Vermont Bar Association seminar

Leahy hires seasoned policy advisor

U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) has announced that he has tapped Tom Berry to be his next policy advisor on agriculture, conservation, energy and natural resource issues in Leahy’s Montpelier office. Berry will replace Bob Paquin, who was appointed last week by Agriculture Secretary Vilsack as State Executive Director of USDA’s Farm Service Agency for Vermont.
