Veteran educator joins Johnson State College faculty

Dr. David McGough, an educator with 25 years experience in secondary and postsecondary education, has joined the faculty of Johnson State College. He begins the fall semester as an associate professor in the department of education, where he will teach 
Educational Psychology, Education Research, and Adolescent Development.

A resident of Plainfield, N.H., he most recently taught in a large teacher education division of a private college in upstate New York, Nazareth College of Rochester. He was chair of the Department of Social and Psychological Foundations of Education there.

Vermont poet joins Johnson State College faculty

Elizabeth Powell, a highly published poet and the recipient of more than a dozen writing honors, has joined the faculty at Johnson State College. She will start the fall semester as an assistant professor in the department of writing and literature, where she will teach Introduction to Literature, Creative Writing, and College Writing

“I am really looking forward to working with everyone at Johnson State—students, faculty and staff,” she says. “It's such an amazing, wonderful place.”

2009 class president named St Mike's admission counselor

Michael Stefanowicz, outstanding student and volunteer service leader, has been named admission counselor at Saint Michael's College. Stefanowicz, a May 2009 graduate of the liberal arts residential Catholic college, was awarded the Father Prevel Memorial award, which goes to the top male graduate each year. Mr. Stefanowicz earned a bachelor’s degree in both history and religious studies, magna cum laude. He also earned Vermont Secondary Teaching Licensure for Social Studies.

BioTek names general manager for their China office

BioTek Instruments, Inc., a global leader in the development, manufacture and sale of microplate instrumentation for drug discovery and life science solutions, has named Mr. Danny Luo as General Manager of BioTek's China office. Mr. Luo's responsibilities as General Manager include growing and maintaining BioTek's strong brand and revenues in the Chinese market, conformance of controls within governmental, legal and regulatory guidelines, and managing personnel.

Lockridge and James to represent Vermont on American Cancer Society New England Division Board

The American Cancer Society’s New England Division Board of Directors announced the recent election of Dr. Leslie Lockridge of Newport, Oncologist with the North Country Oncology Services at North Country Hospital to a three-year term as a member of the Board. Dr. Ted James, a Surgical Oncologist/Breast Surgeon, and one of the multidisciplinary team members at the Breast Care Center at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, was elected to the Board in March, filling a partial term that ends in 2011. Lockridge begins his term on September 1, 2009.

Executive director of The Tutorial Center appointed co-chair for Social Enterprise World Forum summit

Jack Glade, Executive Director of The Tutorial Center in Bennington has been appointed Co-Chair of the Program Committee for the 3rd Social Enterprise World Forum: Summit 2010, to be held April 28-30, 2010 in San Francisco. The growth of the social enterprise sector has the potential to be a defining innovation of this century. This international gathering will engage nonprofit and for-profit leadership in building the mission and business capacity of social enterprises to tackle the social, environmental and economic challenges of our time.

Treasurer’s Office names new director of investment and debt management

Vermont State Treasurer Jeb Spaulding has named Stephen Wisloski to the position of Director of Investment and Debt Management. Wisloski brings more than 12 years of broad-based municipal finance experience to the job. He is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and of Essex High School. He recently relocated to Vermont.

Heritage Flight welcomes new CFO, also promotes from within

Mike Du Pont of Saint Albans has joined Heritage Flight and Heritage Aviation as their new CFO. Mr. Du Pont has extensive experience in many different industries, including Senior Auditor for Ernst and Whinney, treasurer for Burton Snowboards and CFO for Peregrine Outfitters, Suss MicroTec and Jay Peak Resorts.

Rheal Gagnon of Colchester has been promoted to Director of FBO Services at Heritage Aviation at the Burlington International Airport.
