Saint Michael’s Students also Honored by Vermont Campus Compact

Senior theater and education major Dustin Hunter from Lyndonville, was selected as the Saint Michael's College student presented with a Commitment to Service and Engagement Award. Dustin coordinates the DREAM mentoring program through Saint Michael’s MOVE (Mobilization of Volunteer Efforts) service program. Through DREAM, Dustin has organized and trained mentors for 35 six- to 15-year-old children from the Franklin Square Housing Development in Burlington.

Saint Michael’s Professor wins award for Excellence in Community-Based Teaching from Vermont Campus Compact

Saint Michael's College associate professor of anthropology Dr. Patricia Delaney, of Huntington, was awarded the competitive award for Excellence in Community-Based Teaching by the Vermont Campus Compact (VCC) at the recognition ceremony that concluded their April 13-14 conference on Higher Education and the Greater Good held at the Sheraton in Burlington.

The award is given to a faculty member from a VCC member campus who has made public service an integral part of their teaching, to the benefit of both students and community.

Kelley Boyden joins Williston accounting firm

Kelley Boyden has joined Davis & Hodgdon Associates CPAs as an Associate Accountant. Kelley is a graduate of Saint Michael’s College with a Bachelors degree in Accounting and Business Administration. She is currently preparing to sit for the CPA exam.

Judy Simpson Leaving Morning News Broadcast at WCAX-TV

Long-time WCAX-TV Morning News Anchor Judy Simpson will step down this week as anchor and return to reporting.

“I have had a great ten year run but now it’s time to return to my roots: reporting.” said Simpson. “I look forward to getting out into the field and telling stories."

Simpson added, “We have always made sure to deliver relevant, timely information to our morning viewers and that will continue with Keagan and my weather partner Gary Sadowsky,” said Simpson.

Judy’s last morning broadcast will be Friday April 28th.

Alec Julien Joins Marketing Partners, Inc

Marketing Partners, Inc. has welcomed Alec Julien to the team as a web designer. Alec brings more than 15 years of experience in website development, graphic design, and information systems management to the firm.

Prior to joining Marketing Partners, Alec worked for eight years with the Vermont Cancer Center at the University of Vermont, where he was responsible for developing and maintaining vermontcancer.org. Windham Foundation announces appointment of co-inkeepers at The Old Tavern at Grafton

The Windham Foundation has appointed John Cray and Kathy Metelica as co-innkeepers of The Old Tavern at Grafton, it was announced today by president and CEO Dr. John Bramley. Located in the heart of Grafton, Vermont, The Old Tavern is one of the nation’s oldest operating inns. The co-innkeepers will start their new appointment in mid-May, just prior to the opening of the inn for the summer season.

Jaime Laredo Elected to American Academy of Arts and Sciences

Jaime Laredo, music director and conductor of the Vermont Symphony Orchestra, is among the two hundred and twenty-nine leaders in the sciences, the humanities and the arts, business, public affairs, and the nonprofit sector who have been elected members of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. The new Fellows and Foreign Honorary Members announced this week join one of the world’s most prestigious honorary societies. The Academy, a center for independent policy research,celebrates the 230th anniversary of its founding this year.

Jay Gonyeau joins Board of Directors for the Champlain Senior Center

Jay Gonyeau, Marketing and Sales Coordinator at Burlington Telecom, has joined the Champlain Senior Center Board of Directors, specifically the McClure Multi-Generational Center located in the North End of Burlington. Gonyeau will work in concert with other board members to uphold the mission of the Senior Center to support the independence and well-being of older adults, enhance their dignity and self respect and promote their participation in all aspects of community life.
