Vermont Farm to Plate leaders recognized nationally for food system planning

Local food movements across the country are springing up to counterbalance the failing industrial food system and many are interested in learning from the Vermont Farm to Plate Initiative and how they can replicate it in their own states or regions. A core program of the Vermont Sustainable Jobs Fund (VSJF), Vermont Farm to Plate is the statewide initiative legislatively directed to strengthen Vermont’s food system and double local food production and access by 2020.

St Michael’s 2013 Class Appreciation Award goes to English Professor Will Marquess

During Commencement Week activities May 9-12 at Saint Michael’s College, Dr. Will Marquess of Burlington, English instructor and adviser to The Onion River Review, SMC literary journal, was presented the 2013 Class Appreciation Award.

In presenting the award, senior class Vice President Caroline Ward spoke of the impact of Professor Marquess on her education and on that of so many others. “This professor is remarkable; I know he has touched the lives of each and every one of his students in a profound way,” she said.

St Michael’s 2013 Dupont Award goes to VP for Institutional Advancement Patrick Gallivan (SMC ’89) of South Burlington

During Commencement Week activities May 9-12 at Saint Michael’s College, Patrick Gallivan of South Burlington, Vice President for Institutional Advancement, was presented the Dupont Award from the 2013 class of graduating seniors.

In presenting the award, Student Association (SA) Vice President Caitlin Zeytoonian, said Patrick Gallivan has been giving of his time and energy to Saint Michael’s since his days as a student when he served as SA President for two years, and worked to start the POW (pre-orientation weekend) program.
