VT’s Secretary of Agriculture, Chuck Ross, will lead National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA)

Vermont’s Secretary of Agriculture, Food, and Markets, Chuck Ross, has been named President of the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA). NASDA is a nonpartisan, nonprofit association which represents the elected and appointed commissioners, secretaries, and directors of the departments of agriculture in all 50 states and four U.S. territories.

Ross was named President at the NASDA annual meeting, held in North Carolina in September. He succeeds Steve Troxler, Commissioner of the North Carolina Department of Agriculture.

Vermont Bankers Association awards Michael L. Seaver with 2013 Outstanding Community Service Banker Award

Michael L. Seaver, President of People’s United Bank in Vermont received the 2013 Outstanding Community Service Banker Award from the Vermont Bankers Association (VBA) at their annual conference on Saturday, September 7, 2013.

Annually, the VBA honors one of its own for his or her commitment of service to the community – one who exemplifies the real and tangible dedication so many bankers have for the communities in which they live. Seaver is the 29th recipient of this award.

CVMC’s Berlin urology welcomes Fletcher Allen/UVM urologists

Scott Perrapato, DO and Peter Holoch, MD - members of the University of Vermont Medical Group at Fletcher Allen Health Care – have been added to the care team at Berlin Urology, located in Building C on the CVMC campus.

Dr. Perrapato is coordinator of the Genitourinary Cancer Multidisciplinary Clinic at Fletcher Allen with subspecialty expertise in prostate and bladder cancer, and minimally invasive surgery.

Dr. Holoch is director of urology medical education at the UVM College of Medicine and specializes in male infertility and urethral reconstruction.

Vermont State Treasurer Beth Pearce is recognized with National Award

Vermont State Treasurer Beth Pearce was recognized recently with the Harlan Boyles-Edward T. Alter Distinguished Service Award. The award was presented by her peers during the National Association of State Treasurers (NAST) Annual Conference, held this week in Asheville, N.C.

Pearce was chosen by members of the NAST Executive Committee to receive the award, which is presented to dedicated public servants whose outstanding career in government has provided a respected voice for NAST at all levels of state government.

Debra McQuade, Ph.D., MD, to lead Brattleboro Retreat’s new inpatient emerging adult program

The Brattleboro Retreat has just opened another in a series of specialty inpatient programs that have set the hospital apart as a leader and innovator in clinical psychiatric programming.

The new Emerging Adult Program, located in the Retreat’s Osgood Building, began accepting patients on Monday, October 7. The 12-bed , 6,053 square foot inpatient unit accommodates young adults ages 18 to 26 who are dealing with a variety of serious psychiatric illnesses including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, and clinical depression.
