Public Safety Commissioner announces appointment of Lieutenant Colonel to the Vermont State Police

Vermont Public Safety Commissioner Keith Flynn is pleased to announce the appointment of Captain Matthew Birmingham to Lieutenant Colonel of the Vermont State Police. Effective June 1, 2014 Captain Birmingham, age 37 of South Burlington, was promoted from commander of the Narcotics Investigation Unit for the Bureau of Criminal Investigation to Lieutenant Colonel.

Federal Reserve Bank of Boston announces Burlington’s Ernie Pomerleau as 2014 Chair of the New England Advisory Council

The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston announced Ernest “Ernie” Pomerleau, President and CEO of Burlington’s Pomerleau Real Estate, as the 2014 Chair of the Boston Fed’s New England Advisory Council (NEAC). The NEAC is convened by Boston Fed President Eric Rosengren and includes senior leaders of small- to mid-size businesses throughout New England. Members advise the Bank about underlying trends in the economy as viewed through the prisms of their own companies and respective industries.

Norwich educator John Minelli receives international award for ‘Making IT Happen’ in education technology

John Minelli, a Technology Educator, was honored with the coveted Making IT Happen jacket earlier in May for his contributions to the successful integration of technology in education in K−12 schools. The Making IT Happen award is provided by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), of which Vita-Learn, Vermont’s education technology professional development organization, is an affiliate.

Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum appoints new director of development

The Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum (VTSSM) announced today that Pamela Schmuhl has joined the museum staff as Director of Development.

Pamela has more than 14 years in fund development and non-profit services, and most recently was the Director of Development with a health and huma

human services organization in Massachusetts. She also is an accomplished marketing-communications professional for national Fortune 100 companies and will provide both strategic and tactical input at the VTSSM.

Vermont Information Technology Leaders names assistant vice president, program implementation

Vermont Information Technology Leaders (VITL) has named Judith A. Franz to assistant vice president, program implementation. In this newly created position, Franz will be responsible for developing strategies and implementing programs designed to accelerate the adoption of health information technology in Vermont, in addition to managing VITL’s eHealth Services Team.

Yankee Farm Credit has ground breaking

A Ground Breaking Ceremony was held on June 13, 2014 for the new Yankee Farm Credit building at 320 Exchange Street in Middlebury, Vermont. Bread Loaf Corporation also of Middlebury is providing Integrated Project Management services for design and construction of the new 4,300 square foot office building. Construction began June 11th with completion expected in November 2014. The building design features two large light monitors that provide daylight to open offices below. A brick exterior was selected to maximize long-term durability.

Heather Bradley promoted to vice president at Community National Bank

Community National Bank (CNB) President Stephen P. Marsh recently announced the promotion of Heather Bradley to Vice President and Commercial Lender. Heather joined CNB in 2010 as a Residential Lender, and shortly after, joined the commercial lending team to serve Lamoille County and the surrounding areas. In 2013, Bradley was promoted to Assistant Vice President and Commercial Lender.
