VHFA announces executive manager retirement and promotion
Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA) announced today that Patricia Loller, Director of Administration, will be retiring from the agency effective July 15, 2014. Concurrently, Maura Collins will be promoted to the position of Director of Administration and Policy.
“Pat has been my right hand since I joined the agency 15 years ago,” VHFA Executive Director Sarah Carpenter explained. “Her dedication to VHFA’s mission and unmatched diligence have guided so many ground-breaking improvements in the way the agency operates.”

Southern Vermont College trustees name Gregg Swain, Psy.D. and author, to board
The Board of Trustees at Southern Vermont College appointed Marjorie Gregg Swain, Psy.D., as a new board member at its recent meeting. A resident of New York City and Vermont, Swain has a strong history of involvement with non-profits.
A graduate of Smith College, Swain received a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Baylor University. She has served on numerous boards and committees for organizations in the New York area.

John Wiley & Sons, Inc, a global book publisher and education company whose roster of authors includes more than 450 Nobel laureates, has announced that it will take over the publishing and book sales of Winthrop H Smith Jr’s book Catching Lightning in a Bottle: How Merrill Lynch Revolutionized the Financial World. Smith originally released the book in December of 2013, just before the 100th anniversary of Merrill Lynch.
Justin R. Knapp, MD joins CVMC inpatient psychiatry staff
“Dr. Knapp is a welcome addition to Central Vermont Medical Center’s staff,” said Judy Tartaglia, president and CEO. “He has a strong background from the work he did in Wisconsin, which encompassed both inpatient and outpatient psychiatry.”
Dr. Knapp received his Bachelor of Arts in Molecular Biology and Zoology from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He went on to earn his M.D. at the University of Wisconsin – Madison Medical School. A native Wisconsinite, Dr. Knapp left Wisconsin for his Psychiatric Residency at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.
Vermont Coalition selects nursing leadership fellows from Southern Vermont College and Southwestern Vermont Healthcare
Two nurses from the southwestern Vermont region, John Green, BSN, RN, of Southwestern Vermont Health Care (SVHC) and Eileen Rice, Ph.D., RN, Assistant Professor in the Division of Nursing at Southern Vermont College (SVC) have been selected to be Vermont Nurse Leadership Fellows by the Vermont Action Coalition, part of Governor Peter Shumlin’s Blue Ribbon Commission on Nursing.
