Department of Human Resources Commissioner Kate Duffy to join Attorney General’s Office
Kate Duffy will be joining the Vermont Attorney General’s Office according to Attorney General Bill Sorrell. Ms. Duffy will be leaving her job as the Commissioner of the Vermont Department of Human Resources. Duffy served as an Assistant Attorney General for six years before she was appointed as Deputy Commissioner of the Department in 2009.
Jim Ouellette joins O’Brien Brothers Agency as director of accounting and finance
Jim Ouellette, CPA has joined O’Brien Brothers Agency as the Director of Accounting and Finance. Ouellette was the Controller at Vermont Law School and has extensive experience in public accounting while working at Bilodeau, Wells & Co. where he was a Manager and worked with a variety of clients performing both tax and attestation services. Jim brings his expertise in financial modeling and analysis to the O’Brien Brothers team.
Community College of Vermont names Heather Weinstein new dean of students
The Community College of Vermont has named Heather Weinstein as the new dean of students. She succeeds Debby Stewart, who has been appointed dean of academic affairs.

Pine Computers announces new enterprise engineer
Pine Computers, Inc. announced today the promotion of Michael Ferland to the position of Enterprise Engineer. In this role, Ferland will oversee and manage all aspects enterprise commercial IT services at Pine, as well as day to day operations.
Ferland has been with Pine Computers for four and a half years and had held the position of Systems Technician.
“Our company and client base is growing rapidly, and some internal reallocation of resources was necessary to provide the management and oversight of larger projects,” said Tim Parrow, President and CEO of Pine Computers.
Southern Vermont College Center for Teaching and Learning director named National Endowment for Humanities Scholar
Catherine McKeen, Director of Center for Teaching and Learning at Southern Vermont College, has been selected as a Summer Scholar of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) from a nationwide applicant pool to attend one of 30 seminars and institutes supported by NEH. The Endowment is a federal agency that, each summer, supports enrichment opportunities at colleges, universities and cultural institutions, so that faculty can work in collaboration and study with experts in humanities disciplines.
