The Automaster has announced at Chris Bortree has been certified by BMW and appointed by The Automaster as a BMW Genius. According to BMW, “the BMW Genius exists to provide a pressure-free buying experience.” Bortree was among the first in the country to complete training and receive certification as a BMW Genius.
Dartmouth-Hitchcock health system (D-H) has appointed Dr. Mark A. Creager, Professor of Medicine at Harvard and a nationally known expert in the field of cardiovascular diseases, as Center Director of the D-H Heart and Vascular Center. Dr. Creager comes to Dartmouth-Hitchcock and the Geisel School of Medicine after a distinguished career at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA. Currently, he is President-elect of the American Heart Association and will serve as President from 2015-16.
Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC) has announced the appointment of Vermont native Crystal Hasty, PA, as a physician assistant in the hospital’s ExpressCare department.
Hasty has lived and worked in Colorado, Georgia, Maine and Montana over the past several years.
“SVMC ExpressCare is an exceptional asset to the community, and I am eager to contribute in this highly responsive environment,” Hasty said.
Dr. Kolb Nava recently joined the Hospitalist staff at the University of Vermont Health Network - Central Vermont Medical Center.
Dr. Kolb Nava received her Bachelor of Science in Biology, cum laude from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She earned her Doctor of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Kolb Nava did her Internal Medicine residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover New Hampshire. She was most recently Chief Medical Resident in Dartmouth Hitchcock’s Internal Medicine Department.
The Brattleboro Retreat Board of Trustees has announced that outgoing President and CEO, Dr. Robert E. Simpson, Jr., will be presented with the hospital’s 2015 Anna Marsh Award this fall.
Named for the founder of the Brattleboro Retreat, the Anna Marsh Award is an annual recognition that was established in 2009 to honor individuals for their advocacy on behalf of people with mental illness and addiction.

Plainfield resident Gloria Abbiati to lead HR department Goddard College has announced that Gloria Abbiati, PHR, of Plainfield, Vt., is the College’s new director of human resources.

With a proven track record in strategic guidance, creative problem solving, and administering core human resources activities in progressively responsible roles within an organization, we expect she will make valuable member of our human resources team,” said Goddard College President Robert Kenny.
Soutwestern Vermont Health Care (SVHC) is the grateful recipient of hundreds of hours of work from more than 200 volunteers each year. Volunteers were honored at an appreciation lunch last month.
“While we know the importance of volunteers to our success as a health care organization, this recognition event is a way to honor special volunteers for their truly outstanding contribution to SVHC,” said Susan Lewsey, volunteer services coordinator.
