Secretary of State Jim Condos elected to executive board of the National Association of Secretaries of State

Secretary of State Jim Condos has been elected Eastern Region Vice-President of the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS). This is his third consecutive term on the Executive Board of NASS, previously serving in 2013-2014 and again 2014-2015. Secretary Condos was elected by his peers at the 2015 annual NASS summer meeting in Portland, Maine.

“I am excited to continue to serve in a leadership role within NASS,” stated Secretary Condos.

Gifford welcomes two radiologists to medical staff

With the arrival of two new radiologists Gifford Medical Center has created its first employee-staffed Radiology Department. Gifford previously contracted radiology services through outside private practices.

Radiologists are physicians who specialize in diagnosing and treating diseases and injuries using medical imaging techniques—X-rays, Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Ultrasound, Bone Density, Nuclear Medicine, and Mammography. They work closely with providers to provide accurate diagnoses and treatment recommendations.

Karen Rich-Smith named Employee of the Month at Mt Ascutney Hospital and Health Center

Karen Rich-Smith, RN, has been selected as employee of the month at Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center for the month of June 2015. Each month, MAHHC recognizes employees who have demonstrated a commitment to sustained service excellence in their respective departments and have maintained a spirit of compassion, collaboration and continuous hard work within the MAHHC community.

VHFA welcomes analyst Joseph Brouard

Executive Director Sarah Carpenter announced Joseph Brouard, Richmond, VT has joined VHFA as SQL server report writer and analyst.

Joe has previously worked at IBM for 14 years and most recently at Norwich University for 8.

VHFA is a non-profit agency created in 1974 by the Vermont Legislature to finance and promote affordable housing opportunities for low- and moderate-income Vermonters. Since its inception, the Agency has helped approximately 28,000 Vermont households with affordable mortgages and financed the development of approximately 8,600 affordable rental units.

Retreat physician Dr Michael Kahn honored with teaching award

The Brattleboro Retreat has announced that Dr. Michael Kahn has been chosen as this year’s recipient of the Teaching Award for Excellence in Medical Education, an honor that is given out jointly by the Retreat and Albany Medical College (AMC).

Since 2013 The Brattleboro Retreat has served as a teaching hospital where third and fourth year medical students from AMC can complete their required clinical rotations in psychiatry. Dr. Kahn received the highest number of votes from AMC students who completed their psychiatry rotations at the Retreat over the past year.

NG Advantage promotes Jay Parent to director of operations safety and community outreach

Jay Parent, of South Burlington, VT, has been promoted to Director of Operations Safety and Community Outreach at NG Advantage LLC. Jay created and implements the Colchester-based company’s safety, training, and compliance programs and teaches staff and customers as well as first responders about natural gas under pressure (compressed natural gas or CNG) and about NG Advantage’s equipment including its fleet of high-tech carbon fiber trailers. He frequently receives accolades from first responder groups he has worked with and is now considered a national expert on trucking CNG safely.

ECS’ Waterbury office welcomes new employee

Environmental Compliance Services, Inc. (ECS) has welcomed Danielle Marie Jepson to its Waterbury, VT branch.

Ms. Jepson joins the firm as a full-time Field Technician II. She is responsible for conducting field activities and oversight for environmental site assessments and remedial services. This work includes site inspections; interviews of property owners and site personnel; local and regulatory research; collection of soil, soil vapor, groundwater and surface water samples; oversight and logging of soil borings; and groundwater monitoring well installations.

Mondo Mediaworks hits $1M in revenue, donates $1,000 to local charity and hires two new employees

Mondo Mediaworks, a growing digital marketing agency, recently celebrated major accomplishments in business and community. Just over five years after opening its doors, the company’s gross revenues hit $1M. At the same time, Mondo created two new positions, bringing its total to nine employees, and expanded its office in the Hooker Dunham building in downtown Brattleboro. The new videographer position was filled by Jacklyn Bunch, and the analyst job was awarded to Georgia Pearson.
