New executive director announced for CVEDC

The Board of Directors of Central Vermont Economic Development Corporation announced Wednesday, June 1st that they have hired Jamie Stewart to replace outgoing Executive Director Sam Andersen to lead the non-profit organization. Stewart comes to the organization with over 20 years of Regional Development Corporation experience in Vermont, with prior Executive Director Positions held in Addison and Rutland Counties. “Sam and the Board have done a great job at building the resources of CVEDC, which has positioned the organization for growth.

Rehabilitation Therapy at The University of Vermont Medical Center has announced that Jon Robinson has joined the Inpatient Rehabilitation Therapy team on the Fanny Allen Campus. Jon earned his Doctorate in PT from UVM in 2013, and received his board certification for the Neurologic Clinical Specialty in 2015. He has worked in our Central Vermont Medical Center inpatient rehabilitation therapy, where he worked in the Neuro Rehabilitation Center. Norwich University announces Dana Professor, faculty awards

Recognizing outstanding scholarship and teaching, Norwich University faculty have named Mathematics Professor Daniel McQuillan a Charles A. Dana Professor. The prestigious award carries a $10,000 annual stipend.

McQuillan has taught 17 different mathematics courses since arriving at Norwich University in 2002, teaching most often: Discrete Mathematics; Calculus; Mathematics: A Liberal Art; and the Mathematics capstone (senior seminar) course.

Ahmed Abdeen Hamed is a biomedical research scientist at Merck. Previously, he was an interdisciplinary computer scientist in the University of Vermont's Social-Ecological Gaming and Simulation Lab, where he built tools to help doctors, researchers, and pharmaceutical companies. One of the lab's projects involved mining data on Twitter and other social media sites to find unknown dangerous drug interactions before they were reported in medical research libraries.
