The University of Vermont Foundation and the UVM Alumni Association honored outstanding philanthropists and graduates on Friday, October 6, and Saturday, October 7, 2017 during Alumni Weekend at the UVM Alumni House in Burlington, Vermont.
The annual Celebrating Excellence Alumni Awards ceremony featured remarks by UVM President Tom Sullivan, UVM Foundation President and CEO Shane Jacobson and UVM Alumni Association President Penrose Jackson ’70 presented the following awards to the honorees.

The 2017 award recipients are:

Physical Therapist Margaret van den Bergh has joined the staff of the Grace Cottage Rehabilitation Department. A practicing physical therapist for over 40 years, van den Bergh brings a wealth of professional experience to the department.

The Johnson State College faculty has six new members in three departments who started this fall. Three faculty members are in the Behavioral Sciences Department:

Howard Center leadership and board members recently honored 46 long-time staff members at an annual celebration at the Burlington Country Club. The anniversary event celebrated employees for ten-plus years of contributions to Howard Center.

Those honored for 20 years included Wendy Aiken, Craig Davis, Lisa Dennis, Jess Fox, Michelle Phelps, Kristie Reed, Hanna Wagner, and Jacqueline White.

Watershed Consulting Associates (watershedca.com) welcomes Becky Tharp to their technical stormwater team. Becky will work to further develop the firm’s strength in watershed‐focused stormwater management and design with an emphasis on project development and research‐driven water quality outcomes.

The Brattleboro Retreat is pleased to announce the appointment of Meghan Baston, MSN, RN, as the hospital’s new Chief Nursing Officer. She began her duties on Monday, September 25th. Baston comes to the Retreat from Elliot Hospital in Manchester, NH, where she had served as the Director of Behavioral Health Services and earlier as a clinical nurse manager.
