Waterbury, VT -based renewable energy company, Green Lantern Solar, is supporting hometown Harwood High School athlete, Ava Thurston in her bid to compete for Team USA at the Junior World Cross Country Ski Championships in February.

Norwich University officials announced the appointment of Martin Hanifin ’86 as vice president of finance and chief financial officer effective early March 2021. Hanifin was raised in Vermont and served on the Norwich University Board of Fellows from 2011 until 2017. He graduated summa cum laude from Norwich University in May 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts in government.

Attorney Patrick Winburn has again been awarded Martindale-Hubbell’s highest legal rating (Av) for 2021. Martindale-Hubbell is the oldest attorney ranking/listing group for lawyers. The requirements are stringent, anonymous and rate lawyers from Av to Cv (or no ranking at all). An Av rating means that that lawyer is considered “preeminent” and is the top rating.

Norwich University’s Peace and War Center welcomes Dr. Grazia (Grace) Scoppio as a Fulbright Canada Research Chair in Peace and War Studies for the spring 2021 semester. During her residency at Norwich University, Scoppio, whose current research is on immigrants’ participation in the military from an international perspective, will network with students, faculty and partner organizations.

Omega Optical Holdings, LLC (Omega or the Company), a leading precision optics platform backed by Artemis Capital Partners (Artemis), announced today that Dr. Michael J. Cumbo has been appointed President and CEO, effective February 1st. Dr. Cumbo brings more than 30 years of leadership experience in the optics and photonics industry to Omega.

Dr. Sheahan is an anesthesiologist and pain management physician specializing in minimally invasive spine procedures, steroid injections, and radiofrequency ablations. His goal with every patient is to utilize a variety of pain management strategies to improve their quality of life. Dr. Sheahan also practices medicine at the UVM Medical Center and is an assistant professor of anesthesiology for UVM’s Larner College of Medicine.

Pam Trainer joined MMC this past fall as a Tax Manager. She brings 33 years of accounting experience to the team.

Naomi Desranleau was hired as a Staff Auditor this past fall. She is a 2019 graduate of Castleton University and was recently employed by the Vermont Lake Monsters.

Cole Sheffert joined the firm this past January as a Staff Accountant. He recently completed his undergraduate and Master’s degree from UVM.
