Eugene Uman represents where the music we call “Jazz” is in the new millennium -maintaining the tradition, and embracing the future -Bobby Watson

 

VJC Director and pianist Eugene Uman will close out the Vermont Jazz Center’s season of concerts with a new version of the Convergence Project. For this June 15th performance, Uman will present a sextet with Haneef Nelson (trumpet), Jason Robinson (saxophone), Cameron Brown (acoustic bass), Brian Shankar Adler (drums) and Joel “Pibo” Márquez (percussion).

What: The Vermont Employee Ownership Center invites the business community to mark their calendars for its 22nd Annual Vermont Employee Ownership Conference in Burlington on May 31, 2024. The conference will offer a morning plenary address by Melissa Hoover of the Democracy at Work Institute. Melissa is DAWI’s founding Executive Director, its current Director of Special Projects, and an executive fellow at the Rutgers Institute for the Study of Employee Ownership and Profit Sharing.

The Vermont Historical Society has installed a new exhibit in the Vermont History Museum’s Local History Gallery, “Fairbanks Scales: Weighing the World,” curated by the Saint Johnsbury History & Heritage Center. Now open to the public, this exhibit will be on display through July 27, 2024. VHS will host an opening reception for the exhibit on Saturday, May 30th between 1:00PM and 3:00PM at the Vermont History Museum at 109 State Street in Montpelier.
