Vermont Business Magazine Secretary of Administration Sarah Clark today released Vermont’s revenue results for April 2026. The General Fund and Transportation Fund exceeded their monthly consensus targets while the Education Fund missed its monthly target. The state’s General Fund, Transportation Fund, and Education Fund receipts totaled $537.6 million, exceeding the $529.3 million monthly consensus target by $8.3 million, or 1.6%. Total General Fund revenues were $444.1 million, which is $10.1 million, or 2.3%, above the $434.0 million monthly consensus cash flow target. This result was driven primarily by the better than expected performance by the Personal Income Tax (+$15.3M, or 4.7%, above consensus expectations) – partially offset by underperformance in April Estate Tax receipts (-$2.8M, or 76.4% below target) and to a lesser extent, the Meals & Rooms Tax, Telephone Tax, Beverage Tax, and Bank Franchise Tax.

One of the clearest—and often overlooked—indicators of these systemic pressures is the loss of rural birthing services.

Vermont Business Magazine Children begin forming ideas about food and their bodies as early as preschool – and the messages they hear every day can shape how they feel about themselves as they grow. Studies show that among kids ages 6-8, half of girls and about one-third of boys already wish their bodies were smaller or thinner. Adults don't always realize how the language we use at home, in school, in sports, in the media and in everyday conversations can contribute to body dissatisfaction and low self-esteem. A new resource, Confident Kids, offers guidance and tools for families, coaches, educators, health care providers and more to help kids develop more positive relationships with food and movement.
