Guest lecturer, Luanne Freer, MD, FACEP, will present "Medicine on Everest: The Ultimate Wilderness" on Thursday, January 19, 2006 from 6:30-7:30 pm at Topnotch Resort and Spa in Stowe, Vermont. This lecture is part of the 24th Annual Continuing Medical Education (CME) Winter Conference of the Physician Assistant Academy of Vermont (PAAV). The lecture is open to the public with a suggested donation of $5 to benefit the Himalayan Rescue Association - USA.
According to program chair, Cary Stratford, PA-C, Dr. Freer's talk is a wonderful travelogue of medicine practiced in one of the most austere and majestic settings on earth. It is an honor to have the Founder and Director of the Everest Base Camp Medical Clinic present her experience over the years as we come to appreciate the challenges of medicine and the physiology of altitude and cold.

Imminent Choices in Health Care Explored at
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont Issues Conference
Creative innovation as an opportunity to change and improve established health care systems, how the next 25 years will redefine the health care landscape, and what individuals can do to improve their health and well being were among a variety of topics addressed recently by a panel of national experts who met in Burlington.
The experts highlighted a half-day conference held as part of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont's annual health issues symposium series. Nearly 300 Vermonters attended, including employers, health care providers, legislators and consumers.

Champlain College President David F. Finney was joined by Governor Jim Douglas today as he announced the creation of the Champlain College Workforce Development Center.
The Center ushers in the next phase of Champlain Colleges efforts to support Vermonts workforce development and the needs of the states businesses and professionals. The new initiative enhances the Colleges capacity to be a catalyst for economic development.
Since becoming president of Champlain College in July, I have heard a recurring theme from stakeholders in Vermonts business community: workforce development in Vermont is at the point of crisis, said David Finney. Its a need thats been well-documented and its clear to me that the College can add value to the states workforce development systems.

Vermonters are invited to apply for high-tech training and substantial tuition assistance from the Governors IT Training Initiative, which is a collaborative effort of the Vermont Information Technology Center (VITC), Champlain College, the Vermont Department of Labor and the Human Resources Investment Council. It is funded by the Presidents High Growth Job Training Initiative in the U.S. Department of Labor.

GMP ANNOUNCES THIRD QUARTER EARNINGS

COLCHESTER,
VT…Green Mountain Power Corporation (NYSE: GMP) has announced
consolidated earnings of $0.48 per share of common stock, diluted, for the
third quarter of 2005 compared with consolidated earnings of $0.65 per share of
common stock, diluted, for the same period in 2004. Year to date earnings for
2005 are $1.50 per share, diluted, compared with earnings of $1.70 per share,
diluted for the first nine months of 2004.
Earnings declined in the
third quarter of 2005 primarily as a result of higher power supply, other
operating and transmission expenses partially offset by an increase in retail
revenues. "The earnings decline in 2005 was caused in large part by
significantly higher wholesale energy prices,” said Christopher L. Dutton,
President and Chief Executive Officer. “We expect earnings to

October saw Moondyne Agency add two new clients to its roster.
Bristol's Rocky Dale Gardens has signed on with the Burlington based ad agency in an effort to strengthen and streamline the nursery's brand identity. Rocky Dale has long been a regional attraction for its garden of rare botanical species. Owner Ed Burke has charged Moondyne with designing a new brand mark, collateral, and print work to promote the nursery and landscape design firm.
Petra Cliffs Climbing Center has also enlisted the help of Moondyne Agency for new collateral development. The communications highlight Petra's indoor rock climbing facility, classes and expeditions, as well as new owner Mike Anderson's extensive team building expertise.

Hiata DeFeo has been promoted to Director of Marketing and Sales for the Green Mountain Inn located in Stowe and WilloughVale Inn on Lake Willoughby. Hiata has been with the Green Mountain Inn for over a year as Hotel Executive Administrator.
DeFeo will be instrumental in the Green Mountain Inns continued success with on-line reservation programs, developing innovative advertising and marketing strategies, ongoing public relations activities and assisting with a continued vigorous sales campaign.
Originally a Vermonter, DeFeo graduated from Johnson State College with a degree in political science. DeFeo worked for Senator Jim Jeffords as a staff assistant and has several years experience managing retail stores in Vermont and around the country. Hiata and her husband, Steffan, enjoy hiking, fishing and travel.
