BURLINGTON Is conflict ever good? Dr. Kenneth Kaye believes so. When families, organizations, or small work teams are confident that they know how to address conflict constructively, it's a positive opportunity for change. Conflict often seems unavoidable, every business and person faces it on almost a daily basis either directly or indirectly. Yet, many choose to and often try to avoid conflict. Examining the root causes of conflict and creating a system for dealing with conflict is essential to building well-functioning teams within the family, business and workplace.
The Vermont Family Business Initiative will present, Workplace Wars & Family Battles: Turning Personal Conflict into Productive Teamwork on Thursday, November 17 at The Inn at Essex from 8:30 a.m. 1:30 p.m. All matters discussed are strictly confidential.. Ken Kaye, PhD, an international leader in the field of family business dynamics, will facilitate this business forum for family owned and privately held businesses.
Ken Kaye has published dozens of articles about resolving disputes, rifts and intergenerational tensions that threaten family business enterprise. His most recent book is The Dynamics of Family Business: Building Trust and Resolving Conflict. Ken Kaye earned his bachelor's and doctoral degrees from Harvard University (A.B. in English literature, 1966; Ph.D. in psychology and education, 1970). He was a Knox Fellow at the University of Cambridge, England. Later he trained in family therapy at the Family Institute of Chicago.
