At the recent Girls on the Run International Summit conference, Nancy Heydinger, the founder and director of the Vermont council of Girls on the Run, was recognized as the 2015 Legacy Award recipient for her instrumental contributions to building Girls on the Run as an organization.

NAMI Vermont has announced that Laurie Emerson has been appointed to serve as Executive Director to further the organization’s mission to support, educate and advocate so that all communities, families, and individuals affected by mental illness can build better lives.

United Counseling Service (UCS), a mental health and human social services provider in Southern Vermont, has announced the appointment of Alya Reeve, M.D., M.P.H. as the organization’s Medical Director. Dr. Reeve brings over 20 years of experience to the position and is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology and the National Board of Medical Examiners.

Rutland Regional Medical Center has announced that Henry R. (Hank) Dimuzio, Jr., MD has been named Rutland Regional Medical Center’s 2015 Physician of the Year. The annual announcement is one of the community’s most prestigious honors bestowed upon a physician because of its acknowledgment from colleagues and medical peers.

As part of the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) Safety Week, Bromley turned to local JISP (Junior Instructional Ski Program) groups, passing out NSAA Kids’ Safety Poster Contest sheets. The JISPers are all local school kids that ski & ride at Bromley one afternoon each week, all season long. The contest is part of NSAA’s Safety Week, held each February.

The team at Integrative Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine held a Chinese New Year dinner at University of Vermont Health Network – Central Vermont Medical Center and raised $2,000 to benefit UVM Health Network – CVMC’s National Life Cancer Center's acupuncture services. Acupuncture has been a valuable and popular service provided at no cost to patients in the cancer center for four years.
