Martha Maksym, Executive Director of United Way of Chittenden County today announced that Alyson Platzer has joined the staff of United Way as the Neighbor Rides Coordinator.

Secretary of State Jim Condos has announced the appointment of Will Senning as the new Director of Elections and Campaign Finance for the office of the Secretary of State. Will replaces Kathy Scheele, who is retiring at the end of this month, after more than 13 years of dedicated service to this agency and to the state of Vermont.

Jeffrey J. Morse, president and chief executive officer of River Valley Credit Union, has been elected to serve as the new Chair of the Brattleboro Retreat’s Board of Trustees. Jeff has served on the Retreat’s board since 2009, and is past chair of the Finance Committee. His tenure as Board Chair will run through 2016.

St Michael’s College biology professor and chairperson of environmental studies, Dr. Valerie Banschbach of Jericho, learned Feb. 21, 2013, that she has been named a U. S. Fulbright Scholar. Dr. Banschbach will spend five months in India starting in the fall of 2013 teaching and researching organic versus conventional farms, in collaboration with the Wildlife Institute of India.

Howard Schapiro, MD, an anesthesiologist at Fletcher Allen Health Care and associate professor at the University of Vermont College of Medicine, has been selected to serve as interim president of the UVM Medical Group and interim senior associate dean of Clinical Affairs at the College.
