The Vermont State Board of Education welcomed three new members to the Board at its March 17, 2009 meeting. State Board members are appointed by Governor Jim Douglas.
Saint Michael’s professor receives top award at Vermont Campus Compact
Author of three scholarly books on AIDS policy in the U.S. and abroad, Saint Michael's College Political Science Professor Patricia Siplon is as engaged in teaching and in involving her students in her research as she is in scholarship. Her outstanding qualities combining scholarship, teaching and involving students landed her the top award, the Engaged Scholar Award, at the Vermont Campus Compact 2009 “Through a Civic Lens” Conference, held April 1, in the Davis Center at the University of Vermont.
New associate hired at St. Johnsbury law firm
The Law Office of Deborah T. Bucknam & Associates P.C. in St. Johnsbury would like to announce that Robert A. Brazil is now an Associate with the firm. He joins us from New Hampshire Legal Assistance where he was the manager of the northern offices of NHLA in Littleton and Berlin, NH, supervising two other attorneys and a support staff of four. Brazil was at NHLA for eight years, and his practice there focused on housing, general assistance benefits and family law. He also conducted legal checkup screenings at senior centers, and helped organize the North Country Housing Forum.

CEO of Northwestern Medical to take CEO job in New Mexico
Peter Hofstetter, the Chief Executive Officer of Northwestern Medical since 1994, announced that he has accepted the CEO position at Holy Cross Hospital in Taos, New Mexico. With Hofstetter’s leadership, NMC has been able to expand its medical staff, modernize its facilities, reduce outmigration of care, and establish partnerships throughout the community.
