Saint Michael’s students shine at Impact National Conference
Saint Michael's College sophomore Leah Ziegler, a biology major and peace and justice minor from Stowe, likes results. She and her younger sister worked for four years on bake sales, car washes, used book sales and raised $16,000 for Hurricane Katrina relief and other projects in her hometown. She is now on the board of directors of the Lamoille Community Food Share. A member of the core or leadership team of MOVE, Mobilization of Volunteer Efforts, the Saint Michael’s Campus Ministry service program, Ziegler started the Alliance of Students against Poverty on campus.
Three new directors join VTSDA
The Vermont Software Developers Alliance (VTSDA) announced the addition of three prominent industry players to their board of directors. Annmarie Curley, practice manager at Competitive Computing, Joanne Forkey, most recently general manager for Breen Systems and Ali Rafieymehr, Sc.D., dean, division of information technology and sciences at Champlain College.
Physical Therapy Center of Vermont Announces Staff Changes And New Employees
The Physical Therapy Center of Vermont has appointed a new director and hired three new physical therapists.
Dan Farnham, DPT, PT, ATC, was newly appointed Director of the Physical Therapy Center of Vermont. He practices sports medicine, rehabilitation, and orthopedic physical therapy in South Burlington.
Melissa A. Wojtczak, DPT recently joined the Physical Therapy Center of Vermont in Williston. She earned her doctorate from Sage Graduate School in Albany, NY in 2007, and brings with her an expertise in aquatic therapy, work-related conditions, and sports medicine.
Noted Author and co-founder of Physicians for Social Responsibility Helen Caldicott to speak April 7
On Tuesday, April 7, at 12:30 p.m., noted physician and author Helen Caldicott will speak at Middlebury College as part of her Vermont-wide tour. The lecture, titled “If You Love This Planet and Your Health,” is free and open to the public and will take place in Room 216 of McCardell Bicentennial Hall, located on Bicentennial Way off College Street.
VSAC Development Director Wins Award
Mary Welz, director of development for the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC), has received the Carol and Stephen Hebert Award for distinguished service to District 1 of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). Welz has been with VSAC for six years, helping to develop its charitable affiliate, the Vermont Scholarship Fund, which annually awards more than $6 million in college scholarships to Vermont students.
