Vermont Author’s first book wins Gold Medal

Cindy Beaudoin-Valyou of Milton, a 20+ year veteran of the Saint Michael's College Early Learning Center, was named the 2009 Early Childhood Professional of the Year by the Building Bright Futures Council of Chittenden County at ceremonies held June 11 at Trinity Church in Shelburne. This recognition, the 12th annual presentation of the award, recognizes individuals who “provide quality care and education on a daily basis to young children and their families.”

The Center for Cartoon Studies President and Co-Founder named Town of Hartford Citizen of the Year Michelle Ollie, president and co-founder of The Center for Cartoon Studies (CCS) in White River Junction, Vermont, was recognized as the Town of Hartford's Citizen of the Year in an awards ceremony yesterday evening at American Legion Post No. 26.
Rory Waterman, assistant professor of chemistry at the University of Vermont, has been selected as a 2009 Cottrell Scholar.
Presented by the Research Corporation for Science Advancement, Waterman will receive a $100,000 research award in recognition of his leadership in both teaching and scholarship.
Craig Provost, a member of Union Bank’s Commercial Lending Team serving in the Bank’s Stowe Office, recently completed the two year New England School for Financial Studies program at Babson College in Boston, MA. This intensive program involves two one-week on campus sessions and several independent projects throughout the year between the two sessions. Areas of study include financial management, technology, lending, marketing and other strategic banking issues. Craig has been with Union Bank for three years, with 17 years of prior commercial lending experience.
