Stantec landscape architect to teach green resort development course
Stantec landscape architect Stephen Plunkard begins teaching a course on green resort development on Monday, March 8, at Green Mountain College. As part of the college’s Resort & Hospitality Management Program based at Killington Mountain Resort, the course, entitled “Green Development,” will discuss the impact of current resort operations and planned development on the surrounding environment and strategies for addressing resort-specific issues in an environmentally responsible manner.

New England Landmark Realty co-owner passes brokers exam
Cindy Lyons, co-owner of New England Landmark Realty, recently passed the Vermont Real Estate Brokers exam. The 4-hour comprehensive exam tests the in-depth knowledge of National and Vermont real estate law. A Broker's license allows a Realtor to become a principle broker in a real estate office and supervise real estate sales agents.
New England Landmark Realty is located on Main St. in Waterbury. Lyons co-owns the firm with Lynn Taylor and Tony Walton. New England Landmark Realty specializes in marketing primary and secondary homes, and land throughout Vermont.
Local physical therapist attends rehabilitation training in Florida
Jennifer Poulin, PT, PRC, of Poulin Performance, Inc, recently attended three day training in Vestibular Rehabilitation at the American Institute of Balance in Wargo, Florida. During the coursework, Jennifer passed a competency exam awarding her with Certification in concepts of Vestibular Rehabilitation. AIB is the premier Institute and leader in the field of balance and dizziness. Common vestibular treatments include Hall Pike Maneuvers for BPPV and advanced Vestibular Rehabilitation programs for the unsteady or balance deficit patient.
Elise Mellinger Joins VPT as Grant Director
Elise Mellinger has joined Vermont Public Television, the statewide public television network, as grant and foundation support director. She will develop and administer grants from local and national sources for local programs, Web-based activities and community outreach. VPT receives most of its support for programs and services from the local community.
Mellinger was most recently the grant and program Director for Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks in Columbia, Md. Before that, she was with Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast.
AHEC names executive director
Tom Ayres has been named as the executive director of the Champlain Valley Area Health Education Center (AHEC) in St. Albans. A veteran non-profit administrator, Ayres previously served in leadership posts in marketing, communications, and public relations with the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts, the United Way of Chittenden County, and Fletcher Allen Health Care. He and his wife, Anne Barrett, reside in Burlington.
