The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR)

has awarded filmmaker Caro Thompson of Walden, Vt., its History Medal

for her documentary “Champlain: The Lake Between.”

The film, which premiered on Vermont Public Television as part of the

Champlain quadricentennial, explores the diplomacy and trade between

Native nations and Europeans that flourished in the region during the

17th and 18th centuries. It details how Frenchman Samuel de Champlain

ESSEX JCT, VT – Krystal Smith of the Hannaford Supermarket on North Ave,

Burlington, bested other competitors to become the 2010 Vermont “Best

Bagger.” The competition took place September 25 during the Vermont Food

Industry’s annual convention and expo at the Miller Expo Centre at the

Champlain Valley Exposition.

Smith, an employee of Hannaford’s for the past 8 years, won the competition

from a field of contestants from supermarkets around the state. Store

manager, Al Lesage said, “We are very proud of her performance at the

honored by the Vermont Grocers' Association with the VGA “Retailer of the

Year” award during the association’s annual convention at the Sheraton

Burlington. The award was presented in recognition of their involvement with

the community, food industry, store operations and customer service.
