Ellen Hill of Johnson State College named One of 100 “Active Citizen and Movement Builders” in the U.S.

Ellen Hill, director of experiential learning at Johnson State College (JSC) and a resident of Jeffersonville, has been designated one of 100 “Active Citizens and Movement Builders” in the United States by Break Away: The Alternative Break Connection, a national organization based in Atlanta.

Salmon named Vermont Sailor of the Year

Builder First Class Thomas M. Salmon was named 2010 Vermont Sailor of the Year. Salmon enlisted in the Navy Reserves in 2000. His first duty station was with Construction Batallion Support Unit 2, Port Hueneme, CA and with Naval Mobile Construction Batallion 27 since 2003. He served with his unit in Iraq in 2008-2009. The picture in dress blue uniform was submitted to NRM Atlantic Regional For SOY (Sailor of the Year).

Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock Keene welcomes Dr. Ayobami Ojutalayo to the Department of Family Medicine. Dr. Ojutalayo provides primary care to individuals of all ages, helping patients maintain health and wellness through preventive measures such as regular check-ups, nutrition, immunizations, hypertension screenings, and cancer screenings. He also helps people with chronic conditions understand and manage their illnesses to reduce symptoms and prevent serious side effects.

40 year broadcast veteran WDEV’s Jack Donovan announces retirement

One of the most respected voices in Vermont radio retires on August 31, 2011 after a 39 year career at WDEV. Jack Donovan has been a major personality for WDEV, as well as program director over the past 15 years. WDEV is the anchor of the Radio Vermont Group that includes the classical station WCVT and Vermont country WLVB in Lamoille County. Donovan was inducted into the Vermont Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2010. In the 1970’s Donovan created “Vermont Live”. It was a weekly series of broadcasts featuring local artists he considered of note.

Women Business Owners event co-hosted by locals

Connie Livingston, Coach, Consultant, and Strategist; Susan Luce, Luce Creations; and Jen Lowe, Customer Service Works recently co-hosted a networking and connecting event for women business owners. Twenty-five local business owners attended.

Connie Livingston works with individuals in career, family, and business transitions. Susan Luce designs feminine jewelry made from re-discovered vintage beads and new beads from around the globe. Jen Lowe consults with businesses to improve customer communication and service skills.

Katherine Hackett, top 2011 graduate named Admission Counselor at Saint Michael's College

Katherine Hackett, a cum laude 2011 graduate of Saint Michael's College with a degree in sociology/anthropology, was named Admission Counselor at Saint Michael’s. She began at the college in June. Ms. Hackett was awarded the Katherine Fairbanks Award at commencement which is given annually to the top woman graduate in the class.
