Ellen Hill, director of experiential learning at Johnson State College (JSC) and a resident of Jeffersonville, has been designated one of 100 “Active Citizens and Movement Builders” in the United States by Break Away: The Alternative Break Connection, a national organization based in Atlanta.
Founded in 1991, Break Away works with more than 100 schools and 400 nonprofit partners to develop high-quality service alternative break programs focused on community service. JSC has participated in the program from the beginning and has received national recognition for its alternative break programs.
Hill will be recognized at a gala celebration this month in Washington, D.C., celebrating the organization’s 20th anniversary.
